Leave the Car, Love the City
Newcastle College is celebrating World Car Free Day on Monday 22nd September.
How to join in:
Make the pledge to get to work by bus, metro, walk or cycle and car free for the day, the first 100 colleagues who make the pledge and arrive by their chosen method will get a free tea/coffee and snack at any of our food outlets on campus.
There are 2 guided walks for those arriving by metro or train. Meet at 07.45 or 08.15 under the clock in central station. These are led by Safeguarding officer Neal who ‘loves the Metro’ and Maths Lecturer Paul who made the switch from driving to college when the new Northumberland Line opened.
There are also 2 group bike rides, one from the East and one from the West, led by Liam and Joe who are regular cycle commuters and keen on the health benefits of active travel. Participants will get coffee and a breakfast pastry at the civic centre as part of the Newcastle’s wider car free day celebrations.
Cycle commuters who ride from other places are welcome to meet at the College Scotswood road entrance for the city centre loop for coffee and breakfast.
